Age Friendly Strategy 2012

Clare County Council is committed to carrying out a county wide consultation process, to ensure that the Age Friendly Plan for Clare is informed of the views and priorities of older people and their own organisations.

Goals

  • Achieve much valued improvements in quality of life, quality of service and quality of environment for older people living in Clare
  • Ensure that the priorities and ambitions of all key stakeholder groups, particularly older people and their organisations are reflected strongly in the Age Friendly Plan for Clare
  • Build support and interest among older people and other stakeholders in the programme
  • Give older people and their organisations a strong sense that their views will influence the final strategic plan
  • Identify mechanisms by which the older adults in Clare can become genuine partners in the ongoing design and delivery of services in Clare

County Clare Recreation and Sport Strategy 2009 - 2011

The County Clare Recreation and Sport Strategy 2009 - 2011 - the first of its kind to be developed in the county - is the result of an extensive consultation process, incorporating a wide range of local agencies and organisations involved in different aspects of sport development and recreation activities.

One of the primary objectives of the strategy is to achieve universal access to recreation and sports activities through the promotion and development of new and existing multi-purpose community facilities.

The County Clare Social Inclusion Strategy 2010 – 2012 [PDF, 344KB] developed by the Clare County Development Board (CDB) is the first Social Inclusion Strategy for County Clare. It is not designed to address all social inequalities but does attempt to bring agencies together to pool resources to address the needs of particularly vulnerable target groups.

In collating data for the strategy, it was decided not to conduct new research to establish the needs of each target group, but to collate and draw from available research (particularly research done in relation to County Clare or the mid-west region) and current national policy documents. This data is the basis for the actions that were collectively developed and will be implemented by key agencies and service providers to improve the lives of those residents of County Clare dealing with social exclusion in their day-to-day lives.

Collaborating to Compete - Clare County Enterprise Strategy

The County Clare Enterprise Strategy was prepared by the Community & Enterprise directorate of Clare County Council under the guidance of the enterprise strategy steering group and with the assistance of CM International Consultants. This Strategy creates a framework within which the county can address the challenges and opportunities which exist for the continued growth and development of enterprise in Clare.

Shaping the Future - Priorities 2006 - 2008

In 2002 Clare County Development Board (CDB) launched its Integrated Strategy entitled ‘Shaping the Future – Integrated Strategy for the economic, social and cultural development of County Clare 2002 - 2012’. This Strategy, referred to as the “CDB Integrated Strategy” in the remainder of this document, has now been reviewed by the CDB.

Integrated Tourism Strategy for County Clare 2011 - 2014

In 2009, Clare County Development Board carried out a review of its strategy “Shaping the Future” and identified agreed priority areas for the period mid 2009 to end 2012. As a result of this process, this strategy, the County Clare Tourism Strategy 2010-2012 is one of the strategies developed in response to the priorities identified by the Clare County Development Board.

County Clare Recreation and Sport Strategy 2009 - 2011 Evaluation

An evaluation of the Clare County Recreation and Sports Strategy has revealed that very significant progress has been made on the development of, and participation in, recreation and sport throughout Clare. The Recreation and Sport Strategy, the first strategy of its kind was formulated in 2009 and the achieving of 85% of the actions identified at that time has helped move Clare towards the status of an "active" county. 

Social Connectedness and use of Technology amongst older persons and family carers of older persons in County Clare

This document is an exploratory study of the level of social connectedness experienced by older people and Family Carers from seven locations throughout County Clare, however, the process of collecting the information is a very human one. Cups of tea, stories, memories, questions and ideas were generously shared by older people and family carers throughout the county. The report was funded and supported by the LEADER Rural Development Programme, administered by Clare Local Development Company.

Integrated Strategy on Rural Development and Environment for County Clare 2011 - 2013

In 2009, Clare County Development Board carried out a review of its strategy "Shaping the Future" and identified agreed priority areas for the period mid 2009 to end 2012. Following consultation with the members of the six implementation groups/sub committees, and two workshops with the board members it was agreed that a number of strategies would be developed. As a result, the new strategy for the Clare CDB will comprise of a suite of integrated, interagency strategies, focusing on a number of key priority areas as identified by the members. These areas include social inclusion, environment, rural development, tourism, quality of life, climate change and energy. 

As a result of this process, the strategy, the County Clare Rural Development and Environment Strategy 2011 - 2013 is one of the strategies developed in response to the priorities identified by the Clare County Development Board.

Active Living Strategy for County Clare 2012 - 2014

This strategy provides a framework through which out primary objective is "to promote and support increased participation in physical activity, active recreation and sporting activities by everyone who lives in or visits County Clare", can be achieved over the next three years.
