Your weekly rent is based on the Household Income with a deduction for each child. The principal earner is the person with the highest income in the household. The Subsidiary earner is any other member of the Household with an income. Under the Current Differential Rent Scheme the rent is calculated as follows: Approximately 17% of the Principal Earners income (after Tax & PRSI have been deducted) plus €12.70 for each subsidiary earner.

The rent is reviewed once a year based on the current Differential Rents Scheme. Your rent can be reviewed at any time due to change in circumstances. This applies whether household income is increased or decreased. If your circumstances change during the year, you must inform the Rents Section of these changes: 1. Increase/Decrease in income. 2. You start to claim social welfare. 3. Any change in household circumstances. If you do not inform us of any changes which affect your rent it may result in your paying too much/too little rent.
