Can I Transfer to another Council House?

Council tenants can apply to transfer to alternative accommodation and applicants will be awarded priority accordance with the Scheme of Letting Priorities. To be eligible for a transfer applicants must have completed two years tenancy in the existing dwelling, the house must be maintained in good condition and there must be a clear rent account and there must be no record of anti-social behaviour.

Can I swap Houses with another Council Tenant?

Yes you can. A Mutual Transfer or Inter Transfer involves two tenants applying to swap houses. Both tenants complete the application form. An inter Transfer can also be carried out with a tenant of another Local Authority, as long as both Authorities are agreeable. In such cases both tenants must apply to Local Authorities.

Can I Transfer to another Council House?

These transfers are considered only where the houses have been maintained in good condition, there are clear rent accounts (some conditions may be waived on exceptional compassionate grounds) and there is no record of anti-social behaviour.
