Minutes of the Annual Meeting of Ennis Town Council held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, 28th June 2007 in the Council Chamber, Waterpark House, Drumbiggle, Ennis, Co. Clare

The Register of Orders by the Director of Service, Town Clerk and Town Engineer and the Planning Register were on the meeting table.
At the outset of the meeting, Cllr. T. Glynn expressed sympathy to the families of those recently deceased in the town and it was agreed that a prayer would be in order.
The outgoing Mayor, Cllr. J. Reidy thanked everybody and outlined the achievements he was associated with throughout the year. He welcomed these works as they enhanced the town. He thanked the elected members for the co-operation during his term as Mayor and also the executive and staff of Ennis town Council. He also thanked the media for highlighting the functions of Mayor throughout his term of office. He paid special thanks to Cllr. Tommy Brennan, Deputy Mayor. He also thanked his family and his fiancée, Clodagh for their support.
Item No. 1 Election of Mayor
Cllr. F. Neylon proposed Cllr. T. Brennan as Mayor. This was seconded by Cllr. P. Considine.
Cllr. J. Flynn proposed Cllr. T. Matthew as Mayor. This was seconded by Cllr. T. Matthew.
A vote was taken which resulted as follows:
For Cllr. T. Brennan: Cllrs. P. Considine, T. Brennan, T. Glynn, M. Coote Ryan, F. Neylon, J. Reidy.
For Cllr. T. Matthew: Cllrs. J. Flynn, T. Matthew.
Abstention: Cllr. D. O’Bearra.
Cllr. T. Brennan was declared elected as Mayor of Ennis.
The Members and Officials congratulated the new Mayor and wished him success during his term of office.
Cllr. T. Brennan thanked the people of Ennis who elected him and supported him. He thanked his proposer, seconder and elected members for electing him to the office of Mayor and commiserated with Cllr. T. Matthew.
Item 2 Election of Deputy Mayor
Cllr. J. Reidy proposed Cllr. P. Considine as Deputy Mayor. This was seconded by Cllr. F. Neylon.
Cllr. D. O’Bearra proposed Cllr. T. Matthew as Deputy Mayor. This was seconded by Cllr. J. Flynn.
A vote was taken which resulted as follows:
For Cllr. P. Considine: Cllrs. P. Considine, T. Brennan, T. Glynn, M. Coote Ryan, F. Neylon, J. Reidy.
For Cllr. T. Matthew: Cllrs. J. Flynn, T. Matthew, D. O’Bearra.
Cllr. P. Considine was declared elected as Deputy Mayor.
Cllr. P. Considine thanked his fellow Elected Members for electing him to the office of Deputy Mayor.
The Elected Members and Officials congratulated him on his election as Deputy Mayor.
Item 3 Schedule of Meetings
It was proposed by Cllr. P. Considine and seconded by Cllr. D. O’Bearra and agreed that the Schedule of Meetings, which had been circulated, with the Agenda for the period July 2007 to June 2008 be approved.
The meeting then concluded.
