Planning Overview
The Ennis Town Council Planning Department is responsible for the control and enforcement of proper
planning and sustainable development in the Ennis Urban Area and is legislated under the provision
of the Planning Act 2000 to 2010 , Planning and Development Regulations, 200l and 2002, 2003.
The overall strategy of the Planning Department's delivery of proper planning and sustainable development
is contained in the Ennis & Environs Development Plan, 2008 to 2014. The Planning Department has a general
duty to take such steps within its powers as may be necessary for
- Securing compliance with current planning legislation, and
- Achieving the objectives of the Ennis and Environs Development Plan 2008[PDF, 18.3MB]
Structure
The office is staffed by an Executive Planner, Town Engineer, Draughtsman-Technician, Staff Officer, Assistant Staff Officer, two Clerical Officers. Powers, functions and duties have been delegated to the Director of Service, and the Town Clerk.
